Format Pen Drive Which is Infected by Virus

Most of the times we are able to format the Pen drive but sometimes even after formatting the virus is still present in Pen Drive or the Pen Drive does not gets formatted. So here I am sharing three ways to format virus Infected Pen Drive or Memory Card i.e micro SD card.

  1. Go to Windows >> Run in Windows XP,7 and Vista. Windows 8 users press Windows + R on keyboard
Now type “cmd” and press enter.
Now in the DOS  window (Black Colour Window) which opens up type  ” FORMAT F ” without Inverted commas. (here F is the drive letter of my pendrive/memory card)
  2. If the above does not work try this one . This always works.
PRESS WINDOWS KEY AND GO TO RUN
    TYPE cmd AND PRESS ENTER
NOW IN THE DOS WINDOW(BLACK SCREEN) TYPE THE FOLLOWING
FORMAT X: /FS:FAT32 /Q /V: PenDrive” (here x is the drive letter of my pendrive/memory card..and write without quotes AND DO NOT GIVE SPACE BETWEEN “V: AND PENDRIVE” HERE I GIVED SPACE BECAUSE IT WAS TURNING INTO A SMILEY)
  3. This is the third way to Format a Virus Infected Pen drive or Memory card.
    Use a Linux Box
Other solution to format virus infected pen drive is to insert it into a PC on which Linux is installed and then format it on that PC only. Since Linux systems are unaffected by viruses so you will be able to format virus infected Pen Drive or Memory Card.
When you put a virus infected pen Drive in a Linux system and then open it you will be able to see all the content including the viruses. If you do not want to format the Pen Drive you can delete the viruses.
Hope this helps you  in Formatting your Virus Infected Pen Drive or Memory Card

How To Remotely Control Your Computer

It’s a long weekend and you’re happy because you’ll get to spend the next three days with your family. You left the office in an excited mood but as the cab was approaching home, you suddenly realized that you forgot to shut down the Office PC. Oops!
computer worries
It’s a sinking feeling because there’re so many confidential documents on the computer and since most of your trusted colleagues have also left for the day, there’s no point calling them for help.
So what do you do? Drive back to Office? Well that’s not required – just take out your cell phone or switch on the laptop at home, send an email (or an SMS or a tweet) and that will instantly lock your Office workstation. And if you share the same computer with multiple people, you can use another email command to remotely log off or even shut down the computer from anywhere in the world.
twitter commandsThere’s no magic here, it’s the power of TweetMyPC utility that lets you remote control your computer from a mobile phone or any other Internet connected computer.
It works like this. You first install the free TweetMyPC utility on any Windows PC and associate your Twitter account. The app will silently monitor your Twitter stream every minute for any desktop commands and if it finds one, will act upon it immediately. The initial version of TweetMyPC was limited to basic shutdown and restart commands, however the current v2 has a far more robust set of commands, enabling a far more useful way of getting your PC to carry out certain tasks especially when you’re AFK(Away From Keyboard).
Before we get started, it may be a good thing if you can set up a new twitter account for remote controlling your desktop and also protect the status updates of this account to ensure better security.
Protecting the account means that you prevent other users from reading your tweets which in this case are email commands that you sending to the computer. To protect your Twitter profile, log in to Twitter with the credentials you want to use, click Settings and check the box next to “Protect my Updates”.
Let’s get started. Install the TweetMyPC utility of your computer and associate your Twitter and Gmail account with the application. It will use Twitter to receive remote commands (like shutdown, log-off, lock workstation, etc) from while the email account will be used for send your information (e.g., what process are currently running on your computer).

How To Send Commands To The Remote Computer

Now that your basic configuration is done, it’s time to set up a posting method. You can use email, SMS, IM, web or any of the Twitter clients to send commands to the remote computer.
By Email: Associate you Twitter account with Posterous (auto-post) and all email messages sent to twitter@posterous.com will therefore become commands for the remote computer.
By SMS: If you live in US, UK, Canada, India, Germany, Sweden or New Zeleand, you can send associate Twitter with your mobile phone (see list of numbers) and then control your remote computer via SMS Text Messages.
By IM: Add the Twitter bot – twitter@twitter.com – to your list of Google Talk buddies and you can then send commands via instant message.
By Web:If you are on vacation but have access to an internet connected laptop, just log into the Twitter website and issue commands (e.g., shutdown or logoff) just as another tweet.
lock computer shutdown

Download Files, Capture Remote Screenshots & More..

While the TweetMyPC is pretty good for shutting down a remote computer, it lets you do some more awesome stuff as well.
For instance, you need to download an unfinished presentation from the office computer so that you can work on it at home. Or you want to download a trial copy of Windows 7 on the Office computer while you are at home.
Here’s a partial list of commands that you can use to remote control the PC – they’re case-insensitive and, as discussed above, you can send them to Twitter via email, SMS, IM or the web.
Screenshot : This is one of the most useful command I’ve come across after the shutdown command. Want to know what’s happening within the confines of your PC when you’re not around? Just tweet screenshot and TweetMyPC will take a screenshot of your desktop and post it to the web (see example).
ShutDown, LogOff, Reboot, Lock : The function of these useful commands is pretty obvious from their names.
Standby, Hibernate : Don’t want to shutdown the remote PC? Save power by entering standby mode with this command. Or hibernate your PC with a tweet, thereby saving even more power.

Download <url> : You can download any file from the Internet on to the remote computer using the download command. For instance, a command like downloadhttp://bit.ly/tCJ9Y will download the CIA Handbook so you have the document ready when you resume work the next day.
GetFile <filepath> : The Download command was for downloading files from the Internet onto the remote computer. However, if you like to transfer a file from the remote computer to your current computer, use the GetFile command. It takes the full page of the file that you want to download and will send that you as an email attachment. If you don’t know the file page, use the command GetFileList <drivename> to get a list of file folders on that drive.
GetProcessList : This is like a remote task manager. You’ll get a list of programs that are currently running on the remote computer along with their process IDs. Send another command kill <process id> to terminate any program that you think is suspicious or not required.
Conclusion:
TweetMyPC is a must-have utility and you never know when you may need it. And if you have been trying to stay away from Twitter all this time, the app gives you a big reason to at least create one protected account on Twitter.
twitter whale gmail whale
That said, there’s scope for improvement. For instance, the app will wait for a minute to check for new messages in your Twitter stream so it’s not “instant”. The developers can actually increase that limit because the Twitter API now allows upto 100 checks per hour.
And since the app is dependent on Twitter and Gmail, it will not work during those rare fail-whale moments.

How To Block Adult Site On The Internet

The Internet hosts billions of web pages but a large chunk of this material may be inappropriate for your young children. Therefore, let’s explore a couple of easy ways that can possibly help parents prevent kids from viewing the dark side of the world wide web.
You don’t have be a tech-savvy person to implement any of the following stuff on your home computer(s) and all the software tools / services discussed here are available for free via the Internet.
Block Adult Sites Automatically
Since you don’t want kids to accidentally see any of sites that contain adult content, an easy option for blocking such sites is OpenDNS.

You don’t have to download or install any software – just go to opendns.com/start in any Internet browser, choose the “Computer” option (let’s keep it simple) and follow the instructions on the screen. Once your computer is configured with OpenDNS, go to Dashboard -> Settings and set the Filtering level to either Moderate or High.
Now whenever your kid mistakenly types a URL of some adult site in the browser (e.g. whitehouse.com instead of whitehouse.gov) or clicks a link that may be pointing to an inappropriate site, the OpenDNS filters will match the address of that site against their own database of adults sites and if there’s a match, the underlying web page won’t be displayed on the child’s computer.
Prevent clicks on Malicious Sites
When you perform a search on Google or other search engines, there is a probability that some of the links appearing on the search results page could be pointing to sites that host malicious or harmful content.
To make sure that your children aren’t clicking these links, what you need is Web of Trust – it’s a simple filter that analyzes web page links in the background and adds colored icons next to them so that you child knows whether visiting the underlying site is safe or not.
screensavers
Web of Trust is available for both Internet Explorer & Firefox. It can scan links appearing on almost every major search engine and even web email services. You can also use the WOT online service to find the reputation rating of any website as in this example.
Block Selected Websites (like IMs or Social sites)
The filtering option in OpenDNS is great for blocking an entire category of websites on your computer but if you are looking to block only selected sites (e.g. Orkut.com or MySpace.com) because your kids are too young to waste time on these sites, here’s a tip.
hosts file
Run the Hostsman software (it’s a freeware for Windows) and press Ctrl+O to open the hosts file editor. Click the “Add” icon and type the URLs of all the websites that you want to block on the child’s computer. Hit Save and close the hostsman application.
None of the blocked sites will ever open in any of the browsers installed on your child’s computer unless someone manually deletes the record from the hosts file.
Turn Safe Search On forever
Google, Bing, Yahoo and most other search engines allow you to search the web (and images) in “Safe Search” mode meaning you are less likely to encounter images or web pages in search results that may not be appropriate for children.
But the only problem with this approach is that it uses cookies so if you clear the browser cache, the “safe search” preference will be lost as well.
keyword_URLLuckily, you can force the “strict filtering” option in your browser even if the parent or the kid forgot to turn that option on himself.
The trick is that you open the Google search URL wherever it appears in the browser database and append “safe=active” before the “q” parameter.
For instance, you can type about:config in Firefox and change the keyword.url value to http://www.google.com/search?safe=active&q= – now any searches performed from the address bar will always show “safe” content.

Track Kids Activity on the Computer
While I don’t suggest using a keylogger program to monitor each and every word that your kid is typing, you may want to explore programs like Rescue Time or Slife as they will give you a good overview of how your kids are spending time at the computer.
You get to know what sites are they visiting, how much time are they spending with IM programs, what software applications are they running more frequently and how much time do they spend on individual sites.

How to Fix USB Device Not Recognized in Windows

Are you getting a “USB device not found” error whenever you plug in a USB mouse, keyboard, or other USB device? I love USB and have 5 ports on my computer so that I can connect my mouse, keyboard, camera, phone, and printer to it all at once!
However, last weekend, my computer stopped recognizing my USB devices! The strange thing about it was that the Usb Port were not bad because all of my devices were still getting power to them. I could still charge my cell phone without a problem!

So I started with the normal fixing methods, including uninstalling the drivers for my devices and reinstalling them. That didn’t work! Next I tried System Restore thinking that maybe I had installed something and it caused a conflict with the USB system drivers. That didn’t work!
I read online that in order to fix this problem I should go to Device Manager and uninstall all of the devices under USB Controllers. Restarted the computer, reinstalled the USB drivers, but the problem STILL did not go away!
You may also see in Device Manager that the device shows up as an “Unknown Device”.

So how did I finally fix the problem? Well, apparently it’s a super simple solution! No need to edit the registry, uninstall drivers, or anything of that sort.
Simply UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. Yes that’s it! Note that this does not mean just turning off your computer because modern computers don’t really turn off when you press the power button as the motherboard still gets power.
First to explain, the motherboard is where all of hardware of the computer is connected to, including the USB ports. Sometimes the motherboard needs to be “rebooted” also because something can go wrong, i.e. all your USB ports suddenly stop working. The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices!
So first turn off your computer using Shut Down or pressing the power button and then UNPLUG it from the wall outlet. Let it sit for about a minute and then plug it back in.
Hope this helps someone fix that pesky “USB device not recognized” Windows error!

How to track your lost Mobile Phone

Many of you must have lost your mobile phone. It may be due to a carelessness or someone may have stolen it. For all those who have lost, here is a simple way of tracking your phone.

The steps that you should follow if you have lost your phone:
1. Dial *#06# from your mobile.
Sometimes it may not be possible to find your IMEI number using this code, then you can try *#0000#.
2. Your mobile shows a unique 15 digit, this is known as IMEI number.
3. Note down this no anywhere but except your mobile as this is the no which will help trace your mobile in case of a theft.
4. Once stolen you just have to mail this 15 digit IMEI no. to cop@vsnl.net
5. No need to go to police (as I have never seen someone getting his/her mobile back after approaching police).
6. Your Mobile will be traced within next 24 hrs via a complex system.
7. You will find where your mobile is being operated.
To summarize if your phone is lost send a mail to cop@vsnl.net with following details:
Your name:
Address:
Phone model:
Make:
Last Number used (with the name of the person on whom it is registered):
E-mail for communication:
Missed date:
IMEI Number:
Missing place (if you remember something)
Keep all these information stored for emergency use..
Although I don’t guarantee that you’ll get your phone, but it is very likely that you will. Get your fingers crossed and share it as much as you can.
Note : Please don’t send any spams, they can easily detect your position and you can be in a trouble.

How to know who created the fake ID on facebook

Is it really possible?? How can you do that?? I know you must be thinking of the same, but yes it is true that you can get to know who created the fake ID on facebook. Many fake ID’s gets created everyday on facebook, some of which tries to lower down your image in front of many people. You can get to know who created the fake ID on facebook but there are a certain conditions for that.

Let me go step by step and show how you can get to know who created yours or someone else’s fake ID on facebook. First of all you need to know the IP address of that user who created your fake ID. So here are the steps to know the IP address of that person:
1) You must chat with that person. Just invite him/her on chat or ping him on facebook chat.
Note: Before trying all these steps make sure all other browsers and tabs are closed. Apart from your facebook tab no other tab should be open. In fact, no program should run which uses internet apart from this facebook tab. If possible delete history as well as cache.
2) Once you have pinged that person and chat is on open Command Prompt (start->run->cmd)
3) When the command prompt opens type the command mentioned below and press enter
netstat -an
4) You will be able to see all established connections IP addresses there. Ignore the one’s that start with 127* as well as 0*. Rest (Not more than 1 or 2) of the IP are suspicious. Note down these IP address.
5) Now once you have noted down the IP address open this website:
http://www.iplocation.net/
It will show you all the information about that user, his ISP and his location in the map. You can zoom in and try to know the exact area in the map. If there’s anything serious you can contact ISP and ask them about everything you want to know.

How to - Access the blocked web

Since we all know that DoT has implemented orders to curb piracy via torrents, P2P sharing software and large file hosting portals, most Internet service providers have started practising a mega block on major torrent search engines and file hosting sites, such as Torrentz, The Pirate Bay, Kickass Torrents, Torrent Hound, Rapidshare, Mediafire, Hotfile and many others. Obtaining torrents and other files from these websites has now become a difficult task, but there are many other routes that you can take to gain access to these websites and download the files that you need. Let’s check out a few methods whereby, you can fulfill your desire for downloading any type of file. Beware, these methods involve passing through unknown and unauthorized means; it could mean bumping into viruses, malware and spyware or even compromising on your security and risk getting your PC hacked. Do this at your own risk.

Method 1: Use of proxy services.
A proxy server, as the name suggests, is a website service that allows you to browse through websites from their Internet connection. It means tunneling through the Internet connection into another PC somewhere in the world, and accessing websites or downloading files using their Internet connection. The browsing or downloading speed totally depends on their Internet connection speeds and the number of people accessing the service during the given time. Proxy servers are hosted by common or unknown people who have a (possibly) high-speed open Internet connection in their home or office.

No shortage of free web browsing proxies

They simply install a web server on their PC and allow other Internet users around the world to surf through their proxy websites and gain access to websites that may be either blocked by their ISP or office administrators. Some of these websites are listed below. Note: Although there are different proxy websites available online, usually these are tracked and hunted by various administrators and blocked, accordingly. While most of these websites get blocked because they are well-known, others that do not publicize much manage to stay under cover until they are discovered. However, it is very simple for them to get themselves unblocked by using a different website name.

Here is a tiny list of a few proxy servers that can be used to get around blocked website:
  • Vtunnel.com
  • Ltunnel.com
  • n-tunnel.com
  • imsly.com
  • freetoview.com
  • overridewebsense.com
  • sneakzorz.com
  • apchemistry.info
  • apushistory.info
  • radius.ws
  • linear.ws
  • safeforwork.net
  • apenglish.info
  • factorial.ws
  • circumventer.info
  • graph.ws
  • hidemyass.com
  • UnseenIP.tk
  • weddingface.info
  • anonymise.us

These proxy websites are usually created with a weird name, so that they cannot be easily tracked (for example, the website www.weddingface.info) will not even be thought of as a proxy website as the name suggests something else. These websites make their money by hosting advertisements and possibly viruses or malware.

Method 2: Using a proxy add-on in your browser is not a new technique. Those using Firefox might already know about the idea and probably might be using them on and off. The method is pretty easy and can be set up in around two – three minutes. Simply search for proxy add-on's from Firefox, download and install the one you want and restart Firefox.

Proxy control addons for your browser

Once it's done, just Google for available recently updated proxy server IP addresses and port numbers and feed it into the add-on. Next, you will be browsing through restricted websites via the proxy server located elsewhere in the world. There are a few proxy modules available for Opera, Chrome and Internet Explorer too, but Firefox is a working example.

Method 3: Using Google’s caching server to open up the blocked website. This method does not actually take you to the website itself, but make use of the cached files stored on the Google servers. These cache files are recently browsed data elements that others around the world might have accessed from their unblocked connections.

Using Google's cache to access the web

To use it, simply log on to the Google website, enter the words ‘Cache:’ and type in the website you need to browse. If you are lucky enough, you should get through the latest updated website with ease. Take for example, the blocked Chinese shopping website www.focalprice.com, which can be accessed using the Google cache. Even the Google translation service website helps in a lot of similar ways.

Method 4: Using an alternate DNS server is also an option A DNS server is like an index, with a list of domain names - such as YouTube.com, Google.com, Mediafire.com, Rapidshare.com, Thepiratebay.se and pretty much every other website on the Internet. When you type in a website address into your browser, your computer sends a request to the DNS server, and it tells you the IP address for that site. One of the easiest ways for ISPs to stop access to a particular site is by removing the IP address entries for the sites that need to be blocked. ISPs can choose to redirect the request to a different site or a notice page as well. There are free, fully open third-party DNS services run by organizations and other ISPs. The most popular ones are run by Google and OpenDNS. All you need to do is change your DNS server settings to theirs. The simple procedure to do so is to change the Primary and/or Secondary DNS server address that is set for your network card to a third-party DNS address. You can try some of these alternate DNS server addresses in your network settings.

Method 5: Using a third-party utility, such as TOR can help you access blocked websites without any effort, whatsoever. Using it is pretty simple, but it is definitely slower than your Internet speed as it uses the Internet connection with another computer somewhere in the world. It securely creates a type of an Internet tunnel, which passes through a few more websites, countries and Internet service providers before picking up the desired website and brings it back again. It keeps hopping through various routes and channels to help create a secure, untraceable path.

TOR is an effective way of access the web

To use TOR, simply download the utility from www.torproject.org and run the executable file. The downloaded file does not need installation, but it extracts a few required portable executable files to a folder on your desktop. Once done, simply open the folder and execute the file ‘Start Tor Browser.exe', and it will bring up the Vidalia control panel, connect anonymously to the respective servers and later automatically starts a secure Firefox (portable) browser, using which you can access your blocked websites. Using Tor makes it more difficult to trace Internet activity, including visits to Web sites, online posts, instant messages and other communication forms, back to the user and is intended to protect users' personal freedom, privacy, and ability to conduct confidential business by keeping their internet activities from being monitored.

Method 6: Using online services to download files when P2P and torrents are blocked at your end. It is pretty simple. Websites, such as ZbigZ.com or Put.io offer services to download your torrents and store them in your online storage quota at very high-speeds. For example, a 4GB torrent download, which would take me anywhere between 24 hours to 48 hours on a standard 1 Mbps Internet connection, and a bittorrent client can be downloaded in less than two hours. Simply paste the link of the torrent (you don’t even need to download the .Torrent file) or the magnet link or if you have the .torrent file. Just upload it to the servers, and it will download the files for you. In our tests, a single 4.7GB ISO file took only 15 seconds to download. The file is stored on their servers and offers you a HTTP link to download it later at your convenience. While ZbigZ.com offers a free service (with limitations) and a paid option too, Put.io offers a 3GB online space for just Rs. 250 (USD $5) per month. This not only saves your bandwidth speeds, but also allows you to download your P2P using an HTTP download service.

Method 7: Using VPN (Virtual Private Network) services. Popularly known over many years, this one is a more concrete and secure way of accessing the Internet. The system works by setting up a connection that is channeled through your ISP, through to a VPN service or a computer that has open Internet access. Using this technique, you should be able to access the web freely with no restrictions on sites, keywords, services, etc. Unfortunately, VPNs are a bit more complicated to set up. Usually, free VPN services, such as Hotspot Shield are known to be around, might be a bit difficult to find free ones. If you don’t, you might need to ask a friend to open a connection (install a server) on his machine provided he has an unblocked gateway. Then you can access your websites using his/her machine. Services, such as ProXPN and XyberGhost are some you can try out. Hotspot Shield installs a routing driver automatically on your PC during installation, creates the necessary routing methods and gives you access to the open Internet service from various open VPN services around the world. Once enabled and running, you will be able to access any website out there, but will be disturbed by continuous ads littered around your screen.

There are numerous other methods of getting around blocked and censored websites. While some are more straightforward and easy, others are a bit difficult and more secure. Paid services are also in the offering, but most often people are on the look out for free ones. Necessity is the mother of all invention, they say and as long as there is necessity, somebody out there will definitely invent ways to get there.

How to: Unrestricted web access on your Android.
Most of the times you end up with a restricted Internet connection, be it at home, office, college or hotspots. Internet service providers and network administrators are working hard on trying their best to keep you from accessing censored and restricted websites. However, if you are using an Android handset, you can get around it with ease. All you need are two apps, and you are ready to go. The app is a VPN service, which helps you browse through restricted websites using someone else’s unblocked Internet route. Let's begin. Head on to Google Play (Market) on your phone and download the two apps—‘DroidVPN’ and ‘TUN.Ko Installer’. Both are free and should take you less than a minute to get them installed. Once installed, start the Tun.Ko Installer app and select your phone (which is automatically detected and listed) and hit the install button.

TUN.ko, another app that helps you gain unblocked access

You should get the message stating ‘Tun module successfully installed’ on your screen. Some handsets might not be featured on the installer app, and you may get messages that it is incompatible. Simply Google your handset model number, and you might find someone who has compiled the file and hosted it online. Download the file and place/copy it to the root folder on your SD card. Now that you have all requirements in place, all you need to do is start the DroidVPN app, and you will be prompted to enter your username and password. You can register yourself for free by clicking the menu button and clicking on the create account link. The app will open the Internet browser and take you to the respective website for registration. Fill in the required details and your password will be available on the e-mail address that you provide. Use these credentials on the app, click on the ‘Start’ button, and DroidVPN will connect to its servers. You’re done—hit the home button to send the app running in the background. Now you are free to use your browser, torrent client or whichever app you want to use and gain unrestricted access.

VPN apps for Android

There are a few websites that are not allowed to be viewed either outside their operating country or certain countries. For example, www.pandora.com only works in the U.S and some other countries and their services are not accessible in India. To access these websites, VPN utilities, such as Hotspot Shield or Tor are best alternatives that allow you to access these websites. Registration on these websites can also be done using U.S zip codes, which can be obtained from Google. We launched Hotspot Shield, accessed the website, registered ourselves with a U.S-based zip code and create a free account. Now we can stream or download videos and music without any issues. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer is also another example website that is not allowed in India, and you need to be in UK to access it. www.hulu.com, www.netflix.com, www.vevo.com, www.abc.go.com and many more are examples that have their services (from their end) blocked to Indian viewers. Using VPN clients are the best means. You can also use DroidVPN on your Android handhelds to gain access without any difficulty.
