Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of Samsung GALAXY Beam projector smartphone in India. The smartphone will enable the users to display and share multimedia content anywhere on a large luminous projector screen or on a clear wall or surface.
Based on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the GALAXY Beam enables the users to share their multimedia (including photos, video clips, maps, business information and games) and other digital media content with their family or friends by beaming it directly onto walls, ceilings or improvised flat surfaces. GALAXY Beam’s ultra-bright 15 lumens projector and high-definition projection up to 50 inches wide at a distance of 2 meters allows users to freely share their memorable moments instantly with crisp clarity. The 5 megapixel camera enables users to capture and share pictures and videos with loved ones instantly, enriching the sharing experience.
Despite featuring a full built-in projector, the GALAXY Beam does not compromise on style or portability, measuring just 12.5mm thick. The GALAXY Beam is powered by a 1.0GHz dual-core processor, ensuring great versatility and a highly responsive user interface. An internal memory of 8GB, plus a microSD slot expandable up to 32GB, allows ample multimedia storage without compromises, and a pack of 2 powerful 2000 mAh battery ensures greater display power and content freedom.
“Galaxy Beam provides mobile freedom, enabling a unique shared experience around digital content for everyone—anywhere and instantly—from a smartphone as slim and portable as any on the market,” said JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
The projector on top of the phone
For users who depend on constant, immediate socializing of digital content and entertainment, the Galaxy Beam introduces a new way of sharing. It becomes much more than a phone - a handy digital tool, deployable anywhere, which can add visual entertainment to a simple street gathering, set the mood for a small party or simply turn life’s moments into something personally and immediately sharable. With the Galaxy Beam, a birthday or an anniversary party can be enlivened in seconds by sharing YouTube or Hulu music videos straight onto a ceiling or door. Likewise, students can collectively share videos or study-work in any dorm room or student lounge, turning group study into a whole new interactive experience right from the desk table or from the palm of their hands.
The Galaxy Beam is also ideal for action-packed interactive gaming. Users can upload their own games or choose from over 1,000 games available via Game Hub, Samsung’s dedicated virtual gaming store, then project games to co-players or observers to turn gaming into an unbeatably interactive, shared experience.
The Galaxy Beam comes with specialized applications like the Ambience feature for various mood experiences and a drawing tool for presentations. It enables the presenter to easily catch viewers’ attention without a laser pointer. Priced at Rs. 33,900/-, the device is available exclusively at all Samsung Smartphone Cafes.
